You can download to view as .pdf the main examination boards' Specifications for GCE A Level Biology. Here are the links to each specification:

WJEC (on the right hand side under "Key Documents")

The specification is the backbone of your A level course. It lays out its structure, topics and subtopics, special areas to cover, skills to be learned, the way in which grades are worked out for each assessment, and more. If you're lucky to have a teacher who will efficiently and completely cover the specification, you don't normally have to read it yourself. However, your A level is as much your responsibility as theirs, so have a look at it at least once.

Specifications may vary greatly between exam boards, and they're due for a revision in 2015 as A levels become reformed. Don't worry about that! Focus on your specific specification and work methodically through the topics.
